The course is open to anyone interested in documentary filmmaking. You can, but it is not necessary to have any documentary film experience, during the course we will create and gain some of them together: from the beginning of the process, to the rough cut.
Course description
We invite you to join our documentary process, where each participant will carry out a practical exercise from concept to rough cut. In the first part, together we will perform pre-production (including full documentation) of the given world; here each participant will individually select the topic and the main character of his/her film exercise.
Then we will start the shooting part - each participant will individually shoot (with the presence of the course instructor on the set), and finally start working on the raw material, the editing part.
Speakers’ Avenue provides: the location where the documentary exercise will take place and consent to the film recording of the characters selected by the participants.
Participants provide: film equipment to perform the exercise (e.g. DSLRs, telephones with a recording function, zoom lenses) and basic computer equipment with the selected editing software.
For the best experience, we recommend face-to-face meetings, but many meetings can be conducted online. Practical exercises can be performed independently, without a time limit, and then the finished material can be sent for evaluation, which is sent back by e-mail within 3 working days.
ATTENTION: the material recorded in the course is educational, its optional use for publication will depend on the individual decisions, additional consent of the character and the participant's decision after the rough cut. Speakers' Avenue is not responsible for the professional post-production of the material (colour grading, sound design, editing, etc.) - in the case of publication, the participant will be responsible for completing the material in a professional mode.
NOTE: due to the continuity of the process, you cannot join the group during the course.

The way Diana talks about the film allows you to see more. She doesn't impose her opinions - she asks questions. Seemingly simple questions, but still fundamental, because they are not easy to answer, but thanks to them you can come to new conclusions, see subsequent layers. Diana Aszyk
A graduate of the Łódź Film School. For many years she worked as a producer of short forms and a production manager.
Director and producer of five observational documentaries. She made her debut 10 years ago with a film about a Ukrainian family "God's Lake" ("Best International Short Documentary" DOCSDF 2013, Mexico). Then she went to NYC to make an intimate documentary about the life of New Yorkers. For over 5 years, she explored the topic of divorce in documentaries. Co-director of a film about children from a forest kindergarten, observing modern education processes. Diana's current documentary quest is the observation of Poland's oldest masher and his team of 12 sled dogs.
So far, she has been wrapped-up with searching for her own limits of making a documentary film, now she is looking to explore herself as a creator in new fields and is ready to share her passion for the documentary.
Her main inspiration is the Polish School of Documentary Filmmaking. In the documentary film, she is close to her view that every truth has the right to exist. A supporter of formulating artistic works in a way that will allow viewers to come to their own conclusions.
